In the series of pictures below you'll find the various stages of some of our construction jobs. We've posted some of the more vital images of the swimming pool construction process, so all can see the strength and integrity of the construction we do. At Aqua Pools, Ponds & Playthings there's no "cutting corners" or omission of anything that would take away from the integrity of the pool/spa, complex or job. Precise exactness is the only standard we accept at Aqua, which is evident in the quality of the work we do.
After the swimming pool location is properly excevated, one of the next steps is to build the frame to support the material to which the gunite is "shot" onto. While assembling the frame system, we constantly check the elevation of the pool, to ensure that when it's completed it will be the exact dimensions as on the project plans. One the wood frame is in place, we use steeltex as a backboard to spray the gunite against, then we accurately lay 1/2" (#4) rebar with exact 12" x 12" spacing to ensure the shell will have the strength and integrity expected. Click on any one of the photos below for more information.
Below is the process of "shooting the shell". The shell starts with the walls and moves toward the floor. As the floor is done, it is elevated as shown in the prior set of pictures. Steps are solid gunite material, with no filler material. The finished gunite shell has the perfect porous finish to accept the plaster finish and create a solid bond between the plaster and the gunite.
All plumbing is done using the fewest number of joints and turns so as to maximize the flow rate through the pipe. All plumbing is inspected and approved by the applicable health department or inspector.
Swimming Pools can be "edged" with several different types of products. Below, is a standard sized limestone coping edge with mitred corners.
Another option for finishing the swimming pool edge is to use a cantilever finish, brick, pre-cast or slate.
The waterline tile in the pool with properly spaced depth markers and "No Diving" markers are spaced to code.
